Job Title: Director of Operations
Job Summary:
This
position is responsible for direction and oversight of production operations, including
groups involved with flight operations, image handling, photogrammetric
processing (geomatics), stereocompilation and editing, orthorectification, DTM-handling
including LiDAR processing, and generation of final map products including
planimetry, terrain data (contours, DTM and similar) and other map products as
may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that
the Operations department generates products which meet the needs of our
clients and which meet the quality standards established by the company
- Ensure that
Operations staff are fully trained on standard operating procedures and
quality standards established and maintained by the company
- Manages
various operation teams, coordinating project scheduling and supervising
progress on assigned work to ensure optimal resource allocation and
management
- Coordinates
closely and effectively with the Project Director, the scheduling of
resources in conjunction with subcontracted tasks, including Quality
Control steps performed inhouse of subcontracted work, to ensure optimal
operational workflow
- Works closely and
effectively with the Project Director to ensure the efficient handling of
individual projects and to keep them informed on project status, from
project opening through final acceptance of the delivered products and
services
- Works closely and
effectively with the Professional Practice team to ensure appropriate feedback
and refinements to standard operating procedures
- Communicates
closely and effectively with IT and Accounting as appropriate, to ensure
smooth running of the Operations department, including areas relating to
resource planning and management, forecasting and project status
- Manages
staffing levels to match anticipated demand for Operations resources, in
accordance with company sales forecasts and revenue goals
- Develops
subcontracting alternatives for map compilation and other mapping
production requirements in support of company-wide business goals and
coordinating with the Project Director
- Provides input
to annual budget and business planning process, and as necessary, on operations
issues including but not limited to equipment (software, hardware), procedures
and training
- Ensures that
production staff receive training as necessary to be familiar with
documented procedures and standards for production work, and to ensure
that they are up-to-date with technology trends and standards
- Exercises problem-solving
skills within assigned responsibilities and duties
- Performs other
duties or special assignments as instructed by supervisor
Qualifications:
- This position
requires a four-year degree in a related technical field or equivalent job
experience developed in a production environment, and at least 10 years of
relevant experience including at least 5 years of operation supervision
experience.
- Must have
excellent verbal communication and inter-personal skills and be a team
player.
- Experience in
a fast-paced complex operations environment
- Must be
comfortable in business environment and able to translate goals of company
business plan into operational decisions in support of production.
- Must rely on
extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and
latitude is expected.
