2003
USGS 120 Cities Project
The 120 Cities project was a joint effort of the USGS and NIMA
(National Imagery and Mapping Agency) to produce high resolution
(0.3 meter) color orthophotography of 120 U.S. cities as part
of Homeland Security initiatives. HJW, as a continuation of their
USGS DOQQ contract, was contracted to fly 3,300 exposures of color,
1:15,000 aerial photography of four cities: Sacramento, Fresno,
Stockton and Modesto, CA. HJW utilized airborne GPS/IMU to control
their photography. After softcopy aerial triangulation, HJW produced
a digital elevation model using autocorrelation methods. This
elevation model supported orthophoto production. Delivery consisted
of 3,674 mosaicked orthophotos and FGDC compliant metadata. This
project was delivered before the scheduled delivery data. |
