(1997-2005) Nationwide Airport Mapping Services
Beginning in 1997, HJW GeoSpatial was responsible for coordinating
the acquisition, scanning and aerial triangulation of photography
of 86 airports throughout the nation. Mapping produced from this
photography is being used to support radar simulation studies,
initiated by the Federal Aviation Administration. Radar simulations
typically require accurate mapping of tree canopies and other
obstructions. HJW managed a team of subcontractors with locations
around the country, so that any airport site would be within a
reasonable distance from the subcontractor. HJW qualified each
firm for demonstrated expertise in delivering airborne GPS-supported
photography at a fair price. Importantly, HJW developed comprehensive
specifications and quality control procedures, assuring consistent
deliverable products from all of the subcontractors. |
