GEOSPATIAL STRENGTHENS ITS TECHNOLOGY AND MARKET PRESENCE WITH
THE APPOINTMENT OF JOE THURGOOD AS V.P. OF SALES AND MARKETING
Oakland, CA, January 23, 2006 – HJW GeoSpatial,
a founding leader in precision mapping solutions, announced
today the addition of Joe Thurgood as Vice President of Sales
and Marketing. Joe’s extensive experience in the mapping
industry, reaching across a broad range of photogrammetry, remote
sensing and related technologies, combined with over 20 years
of marketing and business development experience in the international
business community, adds a new dimension to HJW GeoSpatial’s
organization, established in 1949 as one of the leading providers
of precision photogrammetric and mapping solutions to government
and private-sector clients.

In addition to his responsibilities for leading the sales and
marketing team, Joe assumes responsibilities for long-term planning
of HJW’s future business.

Dr. Thurgood received his undergraduate degree in Topographic
Science from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and his Masters
and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, where
he focused his research on geometric aspects of remote sensing
and digital photogrammetry. Prior to joining HJW GeoSpatial,
Thurgood held a range of management positions for companies
such as Leica, Space Imaging and DigitalGlobe, where he held
the post of Vice President of Marketing. Most recently, he held
responsibilities for marketing and sales with Vexcel Corporation,
where he worked with mapping organizations on the introduction
of the large-format digital aerial camera and increased automation
in fully-digital production.
