HJW
to Provide LiDAR QA/QC Oversight for Santa Clara Countywide
Mapping Project
Oakland,
CA, April 3, 2006 – HJW GeoSpatial (HJW), Inc. has
been awarded a contact by the City of San Jose to provide quality
control oversight for a county-wide LiDAR mapping project. LiDAR
terrain data will be collected for the entirety of Santa Clara
county (approximately 1,303 square miles), and will be used
for contour mapping, digital terrain modeling, delineation of
watercourse “top of bank”, and the extraction of
building polygons. One foot contours will be generated for the
valley floor, and five foot contours will be generated for the
Santa Cruz and Diablo Range Mountains.
HJW will
oversee components of data acquisition, such as flight planning,
flight mission parameters, airborne GPS/IMU processing, and
calibration issues. LiDAR data accuracy will be tested and reported
according to guidelines provided by the National Standards for
Spatial Data Accuracy, FEMA, and ASPRS. HJW will use these same
standards to assess the accuracy of the contour mapping, TIN
and extracted building polygons.
