HJW
COMPLETES NAPA VALLEY, CA COLOR ORTHOPHOTO PROJECT
Oakland,
California, June 1, 2005 – HJW GeoSpatial (HJW),
Inc., has completed delivery of Napa Valley, CA color orthophotos
to a consortium of users.
The Napa
Valley project was initiated by HJW to satisfy a demand for
high resolution orthophotography of the 468 square-mile region
in support of vineyard management and GIS analysis. HJW brought
together both public and private entities to form a consortium
which would fund the project. This strategy enabled a low cost
solution for individual participants, each of which received
the full Napa Valley data set. The City of Napa, as well as
the County, were strong advocates of the project and worked
closely with HJW to implement the funding strategy.
HJW acquired
color aerial photography at a scale of 1:15,000 (1”= 1250’),
which was scanned at a resolution of 10 microns (2540 dpi),
allowing the orthophotos to have a pixel size of 0.5’.
To support the production of orthophotos, the digital terrain
model was created using LiDAR data which was supplied by Napa
County. The orthophotos meet National Map Accuracy Standards
for 1”= 200’ scale mapping. As part of the project’s
funding strategy, HJW reduced project cost by maintaining rights
to resell the data.
Prior to
this project, HJW had been providing mapping and orthophotos
to the City of Napa since 1997. |
