HJW
AWARDED CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA FALL 2005 AND SPRING 2006 ORTHOPHOTO
UPDATE CONTRACT
Oakland,
California, June 20, 2005 – HJW GeoSpatial (HJW),
Inc. has been awarded a contact to produce color orthophotos
of Clark County, NV on a bi-annual basis. This award follows
recent completion of an identical contact from the prior year.
Clark County
uses orthophotography as an integral component to its GIS system.
Since 1982, Clark County has played an active role in GIS development
and utilization, and they are continually enhancing their capabilities.
HJW acquires
color aerial photography at a scale of 1:15,000 (1” =
1250’). The flight mission utilizes the Applanix airborne
GPS/IMU position and orientation system, used to geo-reference
the photography. The photography is scanned in-house at 20 micron
(1270 dpi) resolution to support the generation of orthophotos
with one-foot pixel size. The terrain data used to generate
the orthophotos was produced using a combination of USGS DTM
and auto-correlated DTM.
Two flight
missions occur each year, one in the spring and one in the fall,
and acquire approximately 3000 exposures. The resulting orthophotos
are mosaicked, tiled and assembled by township and range sections
for the County GIS database.
Prior to
this project, HJW has been awarded the bi-annual mapping of
Clark County since 1998. |
