HJW
GeoSpatial’s Devin Kelley to present at 2006 MAPPS/ASPRS
Conference
(San Antonio)
Oakland, CA, September 8, 2006 – Devin Kelley,
Project Manager for HJW GeoSpatial, Inc., has been selected
to present at the national MAPPS/ASPRS Specialty Conference
on Digital Surface Modeling, to be held November 6th through
10th in San Antonio, Texas. His paper, which is co-authored
by Thomas Loecherbach, PhD and Chief Photogrammetrist for HJW
GeoSpatial, is titled, “Challenges and Successes in Photogrammetric
Approaches to LiDAR-Derived Products”. The paper highlights
HJW’s practical experiences over several projects which
combined LiDAR with conventional photogrammetry, and illustrates
the specific challenges faced in dealing with LiDAR, as well
as the unique benefits of incorporating this technology. LiDAR
is sometimes marketed as the simple, quick alternative to producing
accurate terrain data, but as this paper describes, end-users
should be aware of the accommodations necessary for data volumes
and specialized software, as well as personnel training.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Measuring
the Earth (Part II): Latest Developments with Digital Surface
Modeling and Automated Feature Extraction”, focusing on
the evolving technology, applications, and standards that have
been developed over the last two years.
