HJW
TO MAP AUTO RACING CIRCUIT IN ST. PETERSBURG, FL
Oakland,
California, November 1, 2005 – HJW GeoSpatial (HJW),
Inc., has been selected to perform aerial mapping of an auto
racing circuit that includes part of the Albert Whitted Airport
in St. Petersburg, FL. This circuit was recently used by the
Indy Racing League for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
HJW will
compile 1”= 20’ scale mapping and 1’ contours
from aerial photography taken at a photo scale of 1”=
200’. HJW’s client, Sportvision, will use the mapping
data for the purpose of enhancing video broadcast of the races.
In 2002,
under the same client, HJW was contracted to map 25 NASCAR race
tracks around the country under a tight timeline. Relying on
our network of aerial photo firms to collect the necessary large
scale photography, HJW coordinated the project from beginning
to end. This included the generation of all flight planning
materials, composition of specifications, and overall management
of the subcontractors’ activities. As a result, the project
was delivered within the scheduled time. By utilizing real-time
GPS systems in their cars, NASCAR used HJW’s racetrack
mapping as a foundation for their real-time graphic displays
as well as subsequent spatial analysis.
