HJW GeoSpatial has long been established as a leader in precision photogrammetric mapping. Founded in 1949 in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, HJW now offers a full portfolio of innovative services nationwide, providing high quality geospatial content based on a range of airborne technologies and advanced ground processing, and led by a complement of certified and experienced professionals. Through our Historic Archives, HJW operates a state-of-the-art aerial imaging system incorporating airborne GPS/IMU and the Vexcel UltraCam X digital camera from Microsoft.

Innovation

HJW GeoSpatial remains dedicated to providing innovative mapping solutions while maintaining the highest standards of quality. To better serve our clients, we continually strive for more efficient and cost effective solutions such as pioneering new and innovative techniques and early adoption and utilization of state-of-the-art technologies to help streamline processes. The following are a few of HJW’s key industry-wide contributions:

• 1991: Development of our proprietary OrthoView™ software which supplements off-the-shelf orthophoto production software by correcting for surface structures such as bridges, resulting in enhanced geometric accuracies in urban areas.
• 1999: Pioneered the use of airborne GPS and inertial measurement unit (IMU) systems in order to produce accurate photogrammetric solutions requiring less ground control.
• 2005: Early introduction of LiDAR services, terrain mapping and data integration.
• 2006: Innovative use of high overlap digital imagery from the Microsoft/Vexcel Ultracam digital camera, for terrain extraction over large project areas.

Qualified Staff

A Professional Land Surveyor on staff provides the professional oversight required for all aerial mapping projects conducted within our state. HJW staff includes nationally-recognized ASPRS-Certified Photogrammetrists and Professional Land Surveyors, as well as staff members with advanced degrees in Photogrammetry and related disciplines.

HJW staff has backgrounds in surveying, GIS, municipal government, manufacturing, and business. These academic and professional credentials, combined with related experience proves to be central to HJW’s commitment of holding high regard for the standards of ethics and best-practices governing our industry. HJW sales staff is integrated with the project management team in order to ensure timely, reliable consultation.
